  • Part-Time Year Round Custodian at James Valley Community Center

    Job Description
    This position is responsible for providing custodial care for the James Valley Community Center.
    • Performs custodial maintenance duties; cleans and disinfects restrooms; cleans floors; empties trash receptacles.
    • Assists with set-up for events: moving tables,  organizing rooms.
    • Keeps dining areas and activity rooms clean.  
    • Cleans offices located in the facility.
    • Operates a variety of small equipment such as floor scrubbers and vacuums.
    • Inspects center buildings and facilities for repair and maintenance needs and reports issues to supervisor.
    • Performs painting and general upkeep to refresh and update the facility.
    • Monitors climate control equipment.
    • Assists with snow removal operations.
    • Performs laundry duties; orders laundry supplies.
    • Cleans windows.
    • Participates in providing positive customer service to the JVCC members and visitors to the facility.
    • Performs related duties.
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
    • The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects.  
    • The work is typically performed in city buildings. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt and irritating chemicals. The work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations.
    • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles of cleaning and safety in public facilities.  Some training or experience in custodial work.
