On-Call Nurse

Purpose:
To assist the nurse in completing assessments after hours, on holidays, and on weekends in the event of an emergency safety intervention (restraint, seclusion, locked seclusion).

Qualifications:

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse or LPN, meeting the requirements for practice in South Dakota.
• Experience and training for work with children and youth.
• Familiar with health assessment instruments.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other professionals and support staff.
• Valid South Dakota driver's license

Registered Nurse


Principle Accountabilities:

• Carefully assess the medical needs of each resident following an emergency safety intervention.
• Support the residents and staff in identification of medical priorities and provide appropriate responses to individual needs, concerns, and complaints.
• Maintain thorough and appropriate medical documentation of all emergency safety interventions via the verbal order form and face to face document.

Miscellaneous:
Weekdays (4pm - lam)
Weekends and designated holidays (8am - lam)
New Year's Day

Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
New Year's Eve

$2.00/hr pay while on call (whether called in or not)
$30 trip pay (weekdays)
$50 trip pay (weekends and designated holidays)
If at Abbott House longer than 30 minutes, pay= $18/hour
