Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs daily walks and visual inspections of the production floor in observation of unsafe acts or conditions; takes immediate corrective action when necessary.
Champions all safety or ergonomic activities for the department and helps to develop and meet plant safety goals.
Trains employees to ensure safe operating procedures are followed, including lock-out and tag-out.
Supervises/develops maintenance personnel by conducting training, 1:1 development sessions, and outside technical training.
Establishes priorities in maintenance schedules through work orders, daily down time log sheets, and scheduled maintenance days.
Maintains adequate knowledge of products and equipment and establishes procedures and quality standards.
Ensures tasks are completed in accordance with HACCP and OSHA regulations; taking corrective action when necessary.
Maintains manufacturing assets and facility, parts inventory, and maintains good housekeeping in shop areas.
Drives the Maintenance & Reliability Initiative focused on preventive and predictive maintenance, not reactive.
Sets and maintains departmental budget by reviewing financial statements; monitoring line efficiencies, labor costs, etc.

Associates or bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience of 5+ years, preferred; high school diploma or GED, required
5-7 years supervisory experience, required.
Knowledge of USDA and FDA regulations in the food processing industry.
Experience in plant accounting, purchasing, MRO inventory, and capital practices.
Understanding of yields, plant efficiencies, and operation procedures.
Experience with computerized maintenance programs with strong PC skills - MS Office applications.
Strong math and analytical skills with an ability to lead problem-solving and troubleshooting efforts.
Ability to motivate, train, and coach employees to optimum performance and engagement.
Planning and priority setting skills in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Bi-lingual skills (English and Spanish), a plus.
May be required to work long hours and weekends.
Able to bend, squat, lift over 50 pounds; stand on feet for long periods of time; climb up and down ladders; work at elevated level.
