• DWU Sponsors Year-Long Speaker's Series

    MITCHELL – Dakota Wesleyan University is planning a year-long Speaker’s Series on topics of contemporary interest.
     
    The first of the series will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m. in the Sherman Center on the DWU campus. Dr. Keith Mueller will deliver a public address entitled “Delivery of Health Care in Rural Areas.”  Mueller is the Gerhard Hartman Professor and head of the Department of Health Management and Policy at the University of Iowa. He has published more than 220 scholarly articles and policy papers and received awards recognizing his research. He is the Director of the Rural Policy Research Institute (RUPRI) and its Center for Rural Health Policy Analysis. Dr. Mueller serves on the Rural Health Advisory Committee to the Secretary of the Veterans Administration.

    Taneeza Islam, Sioux Falls, S.D.: “Misconceptions of Islam in the Church”
    Tuesday, Mar. 22
    Dr. Rachel Lamb, College Park, Md., “People of Faith and Climate Change”*
    Wednesday, Apr. 13
    Harry Boyte, Minneapolis, Minn.: “The Role of Small Colleges in Developing a Healthy Democracy”**

    All presentations are free and open to the public. Each lecture begins at 7 p.m. in the Sherman Center and will also be livestreamed at dwu.edu/live.  All events are subject to necessary COVID protocols as each situation requires. Check the DWU website events calendar or social media for updates.
     
    These events are made possible in part by funds from a Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE) Network Across the Academy grant (Community Partnership initiative). Nearly $700,000 in grants were awarded to Council of Independent Colleges member institutions to help campus leaders support vocational exploration and discernment among undergraduate students.
