RUNNINGS PURCHASES VACANT KMART IN MITCHELL, SD

Mitchell, SD - January 6, 2021 – Runnings, Your Home, Farm and Outdoor Store, announced the purchase of a vacant Kmart store from GFI-Mitchell Investments Partnership. The privately owned, Marshall, Minnesota based retail company plans to move its existing store in Mitchell to the new, larger location at 1313 Burr Street.  
 
“Campbell Supply, and now Runnings, has been part of the retail environment in Mitchell since 1957,” said Dan Herrmann, Runnings COO. “We’re excited to be in Mitchell and expand our selection of products and brands to meet the ever-increasing demand from our customers.”
 
Runnings current store, located at 1400 Burr Street, was one of seven stores involved in the acquisition of Campbell Supply Company early last year. Plans are to sell the 72,000 sq. ft. building once relocation is completed and the new store opens for business.
 
In addition to a large selection of home, farm and outdoor goods, the new 94,881 sq. ft. store will sell an expanded assortment of sporting goods, clothing, footwear, pet supplies, along with more parking space.
 
The existing store employs approximately forty-five full and part-time employees. Additional team members will be hired at a later date to help run the new store.
