MITCHELL – The Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Music at Dakota Wesleyan University will present LyricWood in concert on Sunday, Mar. 19, at 4 p.m. in the Sherman Center. Admission is free. The event will also be livestreamed on www.dwu.edu/live.

This concert is entitled “Kaleidoscope.” The program will feature pieces performed by a variety of ensembles including The DWU Band, Jazz Band, LyricWood Orchestra, LyricWood Cadet Orchestra, and DWU Drumline, along with smaller woodwind and brass ensembles.  Each piece showcases various musical "colors" produced by the ensembles.

Of special interest is a piece dedicated to the late John Wingfield, an avid supporter of LyricWood, and two pieces of Peruvian music included as a tribute to DWU Campus Ministry’s, Campus Pastor Rev. Denise Van Meter's and Dr. Bethany Amundson's relationship with Caminar con CAEF, an outreach mission located in Peru. Rev. Denise Van Meter, Dr. Amundson, and members of DWU's Campus Ministry will be once again traveling to Peru in May to continue their work, a large part of which incorporates music.

The next event of the Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Music is the annual Spring Concert on Sunday, Apr. 23, at 4 p.m. in the Sherman Center.
